Data Center Assessment / Risk Analysis

A facility evaluation is often performed with one of three key objectives in mind: define and correct a specific problem, determine the overall viability of the data center to meet the needs of the business, or to help establish areas where the data center can become more efficient. A facility evaluation typically pays for itself quickly by improving the efficiency, resiliency, reliability and security of the overall operation.

Facility Concept Planning

Regardless of the type or size of project, conceptual planning services can be performed to identify the scope of work for a proposed project. TMI will meet with IT personnel to question them on the data center requirements of their company. Not all Clients require fault-tolerant data centers, as their business needs and budgets do not warrant that level of protection. TMI will listen to the Client’s needs and desires and help them to determine a practical approach to designing their site.

Collocation Consulting Services

Technology Management is the resource for relocating in-house Data Centers to a collocation facility.  Years of experience allow us to reduce a complex and time-consuming process into a small series of key decisions based on the research and prtnerships Technology Management has developed.

Data Center Design

Principals from TMI have been designing and building data centers and other mission critical facilities for over 30 years. Our in-house architects and engineers design dozens of medium-sized data centers each year. For larger sites, such as facilities that are hundreds of thousand square feet, or Greenfield sites, we assemble a team of experienced designers and manage them on behalf of our clients.

Project Management at TMI

At Technology Management, Inc., the project manager works as the client’s advocate, typically beginning with programming the project requirements and site selection, then forming the project team including architects, planners, engineers, consultants and contractors. The Project Manager oversees the design and construction team for the duration of the project.  Technology Management and its team is involved from inception until the project is completed.

Design and Engineering Peer Review

If not the architect of record, TMI will review the construction documents prepared by the A/E and provide written comments at the 35%, 65%, and/or 95% completion intervals to assure total compliance with the approved design program and conceptual design.

Mission Critical Real Estate Services

TMI provides services that offer independent real estate and technical assistance to search for and purchase suitable property or buildings for mission critical facilities. We then support the planning, design, construction, and on-going operation of such facilities.

Due Diligence

Relative to the real estate search, evaluation (within one or several existing buildings), and selection of a site, careful consideration is given to location, amenities, utilities, and other items associated with the new property.

Equipment Procurement

We recommend taking advantage of purchasing long-lead support systems and equipment direct from the manufacturers without subcontractors mark-up. Equipment orders are typically placed upon approval of the concept design, thus the project timeline can be reduced. TMI assists our clients in identifying their requirements, placing the order, reviewing shop drawings, and coordinating delivery and installation.

Consulting Services

TMI offers individual consulting services that provide independent and knowledgeable technical project assistance to support the planning, design, construction and on-going operation of mission critical facilities. These client advocacy services provide the client with an extra set of experienced eyes and ears regarding any phase of a project. 

Critical Support System Testing and Commissioning

Whether testing the support systems of an existing facility or commissioning a new support system, detailed customized procedures prepared by TMI engineers and hands on site management are the basis for the support system testing and commissioning process. These services apply to both facilities designed by TMI or by others.

Data Center Relocations

In conjunction with a data center build project or stand-alone request, we have strategic business partners that can help design and conduct the relocation of your “IT” assets into the new site.

Structured Cabling System Design Services

Our design consultants carry the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) certification of Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD). We are experienced in the evaluation, design, selection, implementation, and testing/certification of voice and data cabling systems.

Enterprise Communications Consulting

The convergence of voice and data networks has continued to gain momentum and Voice over IP (VoIP) services are now more viable throughout the enterprise. TMI can integrate the design of traditional voice and data networks into a single entity generating increased efficiencies, having combined these traditionally separate consulting practices into a single delivery model.

Telecommunications Consulting

TMI also provides more traditional telecommunications consulting services. Our opinions are objective and our recommendations are practical and cost effective.
