| Breaker Space |
|
Because of today's high density equipment, power distribution has become a huge nightmare. If you follow the advice of equipment manufacturers, then you can end up with numerous whips going to each cabinet. This results in a rat's nest under the floor. Of course, all these whips mean breaker space is at a premium. Again, just adding PDUs might not be the most cost effective solution. Remote power distribution cabinets have cleaned up some of the floor problems. Distributing power overhead has, too, although many people do not like the look of all those whips going overhead. Overhead track busways, like those produced by StarLine, are becoming more popular. They offer a clean way of distributing power, with a tremendous amount of flexibility. Changing a power receptacle at a specific cabinet does not involve disconnecting and removing an old whip, then installing and reconnecting a new whip, which can be risky when pulling out from under the floor. Instead, it involves merely adding a new connection to an existing track. Pros and cons exist for all types of distribution products and methods. Contact TMI to explain those methods to you. |
