Network

With today's multiple server environment, how you configure your network can be one of the most difficult problems to solve.

Many network managers are accustomed to doing things one way, they are not always aware of the  pros and cons of doing it another way.  Some familiar questions are: Should the core network switches be located in any one particular end of the room, or in the center? What percentage of the room should be run on copper versus fiber? Should distribution switches lie in each cabinet, or each row? Top or bottom?

There is no one right network configuration for everyone, however, the answers lie in TMI preparing an Infrastructure Concept Plan (ICP). The ICP will help your network team to develop an overall strategy for your existing or your new data center. Consideration must always be given to the power and cooling in the room at the same time, as all parts must coexist in a cohesive fashion.
